Shivraj Duggal
I’m currently studying in The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, with the elected mixed stream of arts and sciences: Physics, Psychology, Mathematics, Economics, and English.
I love letting my creative side loose; whether it’s through the use of writing or digital media, I never hold back with my ventures.
In January 2017, I started writing The Dark Wielder, a high fantasy novel set in an alternate dimension, rife with royalty, conflict, and despair, following the journey of Adi Walkman, carrying vestiges of modernity into a medieval world. I’ve loved every minute of the fantasy writing process, having finished the manuscript at over 538 pages long.
I also love the idea of digital and social media, and the compounding growth of messages online. I use my fascination with it for good; with my social project Media Takeover and my propriety tool S.M.A.R.T. (Social Media Assessment and Review Tool), I help non-profits and NGOs expand their reach online and let their message be known. I also personalise selected NGOs’ messages myself. I filmed and edited a short film that portrays the message of Chintan, a Delhi based NGO, and the work they’re doing to solve the crisis faced by below minimum wage workers in Delhi.
I have a keen interest in Economics, and the way monetary exchanges play out both on the micro and the global scale. In February 2019, I founded SneakerUp, an e-commerce forum promoting a creative and accessible sneaker culture in India. Lotteries, quizzes, surveys, giveaways and competitions: the objective was to use targeted social media marketing to create a secondary marketplace, for premium, limited-release sneakers. I filmed commercials, created original campaign content, received seed-funding of $50,000 to expand inventory, improve our advertising, and to effectively create fresh demand for a relatively new product-set in India.
I love expressing myself creatively, whether it’s through words, my lens, or through concocting social messages that taste like candy; but most of all, never with a paintbrush. Yeah I can’t draw to save my life. And I have the handwriting of a 3 year old!
